Our team is interested in ecological, evolutionary and conservation questions related to marine and freshwater organisms (mostly fishes and their parasites), humans and ecosystems. We use evolutionary genetics, biomarkers and molecular ecology techniques, and our fieldwork takes us mostly to Europe but also elsewhere. Currently, we're studying parasite biodiversity, connectivity of flatfishes, the tracing of fish and seafood, the adaptive potential of fish in response to exploitation pressure and climate change, the ecological speciation and eco-evolutionary dynamics of sticklebacks, invasive species, the historical population characteristics of fishes and the implementation of knowledge on biodiversity in policy.
