Biodiversity & Nature Conservation
- We study patterns of species richness and biodiversity across aquatic environmental gradients, including biodiversity patterns across trophic levels. We also focus on conservation genetics and the dynamics of extinction/recolonization. We contribute to restoration ecology, fisheries management and sustainable management of shallow standing and running waters,
- Biodiversity of ponds and shallow lakes in relation to environmental gradients and land use
- Restoration ecology of shallow water bodies
- Sustainable management of tropical and subtropical lakes and reservoirs
- Reconstruction of dynamics of extinction and recolonization
- Development, evaluation and use of indexes of biotic integrity
